Frank Baum and continued by Ruth Plumly Thompson. It contains the classic illustrations by John R. Neill. Peter Brown, introduced in The Gnome King of Oz, finds a magic sack that transports him back to the land of Oz to meet Jack Pumpkinhead. Heading to the Emerald City, they lose their way in the Quadling Country where Peter finds that his empty sack will consume objects and creatures that are scooped into its open mouth. They also find the magic dinner bell of Jinnicky the Red Jinn. They meet up with Snif the Iffin (he's a griffin who has lost his "gr-" and is no longer able to growl), and Baron Belfaygor who has a rapidly growing beard that he must constantly cut away. The local villain, Mogodore the Mighty, and his army march to take over the Emerald City. Peter's group races to save the city and manage to reduce Magodore and his men to tiny beings, saving the Kingdom. Order in Oz is restored, with a great celebratory banquet before Peter is sent home.Be sure to read all of the other OZ classic editions in the SeaWolf Press OZ Collection.
