  • Durantas are native to tropical regions of North America and India. It is known by several common names, including Sky Flower, Golden Dew Drop, Pigeon Berry, and Fence Flower.
  • Sapphire Showers or Geisha Girl is a select cultivar of Duranta repens that produces pendulant hanging clusters of slightly tubular, nectar-rich, dark blue-toned purple flowers, followed by long hanging streamers of bright yellow berries. The flowers and berries are a natural food source for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife, but are not edible for humans. They are easy to grow, establish quickly, are heat tolerant.
  • Care: Easy to grow and quick to establish, this plant thrives in a permanent location with 4 to 6 hours of indirect light daily. Plant in fertile, well-draining soil and maintain consistent moisture. Prune after flowering to maintain shape and control size.
  • Indoor Growing: This species is not well-suited for indoor growing and can be difficult to successfully overwinter due to its need for high light, warm temperatures with a day/night differential, and high humidity. It is best enjoyed as a seasonal container plant and brought indoors only for the briefest time necessary to protect it from frost or freezing.
  • Climate: A semi-tropical perennial that is recommended for USDA Hardiness Zones 8B, 9, 10, and 11. In Zone 8B, it should be planted early in the season and protected from cold until very well established. We recommend protecting from frost and freezing in all zones for the best appearance and longevity.
